My name is Disha Saraf. I am a psychotherapist currently practising online and in Kolkata.
I believe psychotherapy can offer you, if you allow it to, a space to connect with your authentic, vulnerable self – a space we are often deprived of.
What I find most important and valuable in my practice is the unique therapeutic relationship we have the privilege of building with each other. As human beings, we cannot be fully understood outside of our relationships and the socio-political-cultural contexts we are born into and navigate throughout our lives. This helps me acknowledge and be mindful of my own biases and privileges I bring with me into the therapy room.
My approach to psychotherapy is person centered, insight-oriented, trauma-informed, and depth-focused. I find deep inspiration in the Narrative and Psychodynamic Relational framework to therapy and actively integrate their ideas into my practice. Having started this exciting journey just two years ago, I hope to continually evolve in this field and incorporate therapeutic approaches that truly resonate with me and enhance my work.
My experience spans working with individuals within the age range of 13 to 45 years mostly on a long term basis with concerns pertaining to (but not limited to) trauma, grief, relationship with self and others, family discords, attachment patterns, anxiety, profound sadness, personality difficulties, and emotional vulnerabilities.
